Step 7:
Fun time. Click the ‘layer 1′ layer then go FILTER->Distort->Lens correction. If for some reason this option is not available, you will need to change the mode. Go IMAGE->Mode- and make sure it is in RGB mode. Ok, back to the lens correction filter. This is great! There is a plethora of things to do here, but I will only cover what we are going to need to do. First, Remove distortion either gives us a fisheye effect or its opposite. This also makes our layer much bigger so scroll down to the bottom and alter the scale. I have also transformed the horizontal and vertical perspectives.
Step 8:
Now still with the same layer, go LAYER->Layer Style- and choose Bevel and Emboss. This gives us a neat 3d effect. To make it even more pronounced, click the box next to ‘Gloss contour’. Another screen pops up. This gives us more control over how glossy we want our logo to be.
Step 9:
Ok, unhide the top layer and give it a lens correction too. IMPORTANT! You must use the exact same settings as before! That done, CRTL+click the layer to select it.
Step 10:
Ok, now we are going to add a gradient effect. Hit ‘G’ on the keyboard and then drag it from the bottom upwards.
Step 11:
Change the blend mode to multiply and this layer is just about finished. Now, we are going to add a lens blur effect which really turns on the metal effect. First though, we must merge the layers. Hide the background layer (we don’t want to use this in the lens blur), then hit SHIFT+CRTL+E. This merges all visible layers.
Step 12:
The last step, go FILTER->blur->Lens blur. You don’t really need to change any of the settings here, but of course you should play around with them to see what you can come up with. Wow! Not bad considering we started with a boring black and white image!
