Step 1:

CRTL+N to open a new document. Get used to using keyboard shortcuts, by the way. It’ll save you heaps of time you can spend ’smooching’. Make the width 1000 pixels and the height 140. This gives us a banner-like document that is quite small in size but still looks big. Hit SHIFT+F5 to bring up the Fill screen and choose black from the drop down menu:

Step 2:

Hit ‘T’ to activate the Type Tool. Click and drag on the lefthand side and type a capital T. With the T selected, go to the drop down font list at the top of the screen and choose ‘Courier’. Then hit the move tool ‘V’, and position it correctly. You can either use the mouse to move it or better still the arrow keys:

Step 3:

Ok, now for a bit of work. Well this is for your true love so a bit of sacrifice is in order, isn’t it? Make sure the move tool is still selected, and press ALT+the right arow ONCE. This copies it. Now press SHIFT+the right arrow three times.

Step 4:

Right, repeat for all the letters that we need. Don’t forget the spaces and the ‘…’

Step 5:

This is what your Layers panel should look like:

Step 6:

What we have to do now is select each layer, activate the Type tool, and change the T’s for the correct letters. Notice that the layers change to the letter:

Step 8:

Now we have to create a new layer by clicking the ‘Create New Layer’ icon, and choose a pinky, lovey-dovey color for the Foreground by clicking the little square in the tool bar. If you don’t know which one it is, hit ‘D’ on the keyboard to set the Foreground and Backgrounds back to black and white. Click the black one:
